Assam Floods: Over 2 lakh people taken shelter at relief camps



Over 2 lakh people have taken shelter at relief camps in Assam as there is no improvement in overall flood condition.

Official sources said that the number of flood hit people has increased to 12 lakh 40 thousand in 19 districts today. New areas have been inundated in parts of Nagaon, Morigaon and Barpeta districts during last 24 hours.

However, train services to Dhemaji have been resumed following the repairing of damaged tracks. Rescue and relief works are being carried out by the army and State Disaster Response Force.
Union Sports minister Sarbanand Sonowal has visited flood hit areas in Upper Assam today.
