Assam Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday felicitated
schoolteachers and urged them to act as architects of society.
Gogoi said teachers need to dedicate themselves, especially
at the primary level, to laying the foundation of students.
"The role of primary teachers in building the future of
students is huge," Gogoi said at a Teachers' Day function in Guwahati. He
added that the state's matriculation results were improving and the number of
girl students in educational institutions was also on the rise.
Education minister Sarat Barkotoky said the education
department had already established 12 model degree colleges in the state to
provide quality higher education to students.
